Role: Consultant - Whatsup Gold Administrator

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced WhatsUp Gold Monitoring Professional to manage, maintain, and optimize our network and infrastructure monitoring environment using Progress WhatsUp Gold. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring high availability, performance monitoring, alert configuration, reporting, and proactive issue resolution across enterprise IT systems.

Key Responsibilities
•    Design, implement, and maintain monitoring solutions using WhatsUp Gold.
•    Configure and manage device discovery, SNMP, WMI, SSH, and API-based monitoring.
•    Implement and manage network configuration backups and version control.
•    Configure and manage network traffic analysis using NetFlow, sFlow, J-Flow, or IPFIX.
•    Create and maintain dashboards, alerts, workflows, and performance reports.
•    Monitor network devices, servers, applications, virtual environments, and cloud infrastructure.
•    Fine-tune thresholds and alerting policies to reduce false positives.
•    Integrate WhatsUp Gold with ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira) and notification tools.
•    Troubleshoot monitoring gaps, performance issues, and connectivity problems.
•    Maintain monitoring documentation, runbooks, and SOPs.
•    Support compliance and audit requirements by generating required reports.
•    Collaborate with network, systems, and security teams for incident resolution.
•    Upgrade, patch, and maintain the WhatsUp Gold platform and associated components.

Required Qualifications
•    3+ years of experience in network/system monitoring.
•    2+ years of hands-on experience with WhatsUp Gold.
•    Strong knowledge of:
o    SNMP (v1/v2/v3)
o    WMI
o    TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP
o    Windows & Linux servers
o    Network devices (routers, switches, firewalls)
•    Experience with SQL databases (for reporting and backend troubleshooting).
•    Experience with monitoring virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper-V).
•    Understanding of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management).

Preferred Qualifications
•    Experience monitoring cloud environments (AWS, Azure).
•    Knowledge of scripting (PowerShell, Python) for automation.
•    Experience with REST APIs and integrations.
•    Familiarity with other monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Grafana).
